THE HOME
Terra Visio: Latin words meaning earth and vision. Clark &
Son Homes has translated them into an elegant home that can
only be described as "something perceived in a dream."
This elegant home makes a dream
of retreating into your own world come to life, as the panoramic
view of the earth below becomes a reality as you enter the home.
Various shades of warm brown
tones of the earth flow through the home in the carpeting and
tile work. Then, water takes over in the nautical-themed den.
The bedrooms are decorated just
for the future occupants. "Our bedrooms will each bring interest
to all corners of this home. The master suite's spectacular
four poster bed boasts rich fabrics and accents. The breathtaking
view is topped off with a sitting area perfect for a morning
espresso or a romantic sunset and a glass of wine," said Kathy
Johnston, interior designer with North Shore Design. "There's
a whimsical fairy-tale theme with bright and fresh garden pinks
and greens in a child's bedroom, including a customized window
seat."
In the master bath, look down
at the floor and see 18-inch square porcelain tiles that look
like natural limestone. A Jacuzzi tub and an oversized walk-in
shower complete the custom detailing of this special master
bath.
Mystic brown granite countertops
and Brazilian teak hardwood floors lend warmth and atmosphere
to that favorite room in any home, the kitchen. It's a room
where memories are made: family dinners, the chatter of guests
at a party, and the everyday fun of cooking. The design of this
kitchen takes cooking to the next level with Thermador appliances,
a built-in wine cooler and refrigerator, and the lasting quality
of custom American cherry cabinets. The Questech copper accent
rail with 1x1 copper tacks in the back splash add sparks of
color. A closet pantry in addition to generous cabinets and
drawers allows plenty of room for extra tableware and cookware.
"Our kitchen uses timeless materials,
granite, cherry and teak wood, and porcelain tile. Accents of
chocolate, copper, red and gold add a playful element to create
a warm family environment," said Kathy Johnston of North Shore
Design.
In the living areas, warm paint
colors enhance the furnishings. Accents of metal and warm wood
tones, along with window treatments and furnishings, play up
the warm brick and gold tones.
The vaulted great room ceiling
soars with the strong lines of custom cathedral arches supported
by columns accented with Brazilian teak. There's a large Lennox
gas fireplace surrounded by a custom mantle and granite tile.
When it's time for an evening before the fire, relax and enjoy
the built-in entertainment center with speakers throughout the
living areas and exterior decks. The windows in all of the living
areas are carefully placed and oversized to take full advantage
of the 180-degree view.
The exterior of The Terra Visio
is as carefully designed and planned as the interior. Watch
for the unusual siding made of select Swedish spruce by Swedish
Century Siding. The decks feature custom iron railings and cedar
decking, along with cedar tongue-and-groove soffit ceilings
on the front porch and the upper deck. The front bay window
is enhanced by a custom-built iron window box.
Custom features that make this
a truly special home include the central vacuum system, the
92% gas forced air furnace with a 14 SEER air conditioner, and
the use of BioBased soy-based foam insulation.
For entertaining, there's your
own wine cellar, including the beauty of faux-finished walls,
a barrel-vaulted ceiling, custom wine racks and tile flooring.
You and guests can enjoy movies or sports in the home theater
watching the 92" projection TV with surround sound. Exercise
at the beach! This spa exercise room features a custom-painted
beach scene mural! Top this off with an entertainment room complete
wet bar and tile floor.
And there is still space left
on the lower level for a spacious finished storage room.
This dream of a home, combining
the colors of the earth and the vision of the builders, will
be a favorite at the 2004 Parade of Homes.
THE BUILDER'S STORY
Dale L. Clark began building homes in 1972. He was joined by,
his son, Jerry W. Clark in 1978, after earning his degree in
business at the University of Portland, and gaining valuable
business experience in the commercial and residential construction
industry.
Dale retired from the business
in 1997. Jerry and his wife, Denise, have carried on the family
business and have been fortunate to have four sons working for
the company at various times as well.
"As Clark & Son Construction,
Inc., we have done a wide variety of commercial and residential
projects, subcontracting framing and siding installation. We
have worked as general contractors on churches, warehouses,
and a variety of commercial remodeling projects," said Jerry
Clark.
Clark & Son Homes, LLC was
recently formed to carry on the residential construction tradition
of the Clark family, producing homes with "quality construction
and time tested values."
Larry W. Smith of Windermere/Stellar
Group Real Estate commented that Clark &Son Homes, LLC has
been building superior quality homes in Clark County for over
32 years. "They refuse to compromise quality in the construction
of their homes, and they take great pride in creating truly
livable, fully functional living spaces that will last for generations."Smith
was also instrumental in the design of this particular home,
and has been intensely involved in the design and marketing
of all of Clark's products for over fifteen years.
"We specialize in customizing
stock plans to bring a product to the market that has the flavor
and feel of an individually designed custom home. We approach
each home with a pride of ownership perspective. We build custom
homes on a case by case basis. As a result, we have a wide range
of experience in home styles (arts & crafts; Northwest contemporary;
traditional; prairie farmhouse and builder's style) included
in our portfolio," said Clark.
The builders recently completed
"Candlebrooke," a three-year project located at NW 9th Ave.
and 109th Street in Hazel Dell. Of the twenty-five homes in
the development, Clark built fourteen, along with two custom
homes in other areas of town. Six of the Candlebrooke homes
were custom homes. They have also constructed homes in Columbia
Summit Estates, Columbia Ridge and Lacamas Heights all in Camas;
Ridgefield; Salmon Creek; Hockinson; Hazel Dell, and Vancouver.
Clark & Son Homes LLC utilizes
only the best subcontractors and tradesmen available in Clark
County, most of whom have been associated with the Clarks for
many years.
"We operate under the mandate
of full disclosure of all cost elements in building our homes,"
said Clark. "We do business with integrity, and stand behind
our product and sub-contractors. We provide a Home Buyer's Warranty
2-10 on all of our homes."
"Our company operates with a
minimal overhead and strives diligently to exceed our customer's
expectations," he continued. "As one of the oldest homebuilders
in Clark County, we take pride in the fact that our homes add
beauty and livability to our hometown. We specialize in customer
service, and a sensitive attention to detail. During the construction
process, whether a custom home, or a spec home, we employ a
full time superintendent to oversee all aspects of that construction.
Our Residential Superintendent, Gerald Watkins, has been with
the company for over 16 years. With his assistance we have the
ability to be readily accessible to our customers and subcontractors
before, during, and after the construction of a home."
