Linear Technology's earnings release today is a good indication that tech is looking up in Clark County. The company posted record earnings for the quarter and I hear from their spokesman that they're hiring 20 more people by mid-year. So at least the semiconductor industry will improve. I'm not sure what it means for the rest of tech, though.
CREDC just hosted its Q2 Event on Industrial Competitiveness today. Our keynote speaker was Dick Sheehy from CH2MHill, the largest construction/ program management consultant in the U.S. They projected LEDs/OLEDs, Solar, and Biotech, as the local wave of the future. Thoughts?
It seems there may be potential w/ the SBA stimulus funds & w/ Google/SBA’s connection to provide much-needed capital for start-ups and other tech-related companies; for businesses in Vancouver/Clark Co. as well as PDX.
With a little luck and the variety of funds currently available, the outlook is getting better.
