The body of an apparent drowning victim was discovered Friday morning, said Kim Kapp, spokeswoman for the Vancouver Police Department.
Kapp said the body was found along the 6500 block of Northwest Lower River Road, near the Vancouver Lake flushing channel.
The body was taken to the Clark County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy and to be identified, she said.
On Sept. 13, police were called to a reported drowning in the flushing channel, which is south of Frenchman's Bar Park. Despite the efforts of teams from Clark County Diver Rescue and Southwest Washington Organization of Rescue Divers, the body of the swimmer could not be found.
Friends reported that 20-year-old Samuel D. Garvin of Vancouver had attempted to swim the flushing channel but went under.
