THE COLUMBIAN
Battle Ground High School wants to get in the Hall of Fame game.
"There's not going to be any problem getting a start," said Karla Kalian, the Associated Student Body coordinator at the high school. "There's a lot of history to make up for."
She is talking about the Battle Ground High School Athletics Hall of Fame, which organizers hope to unveil this winter. Kalian said the plan is to induct 10 the first year or two, and then go to five inductees per year once the hall is established. The first ceremony could take place in between a girls and boys basketball doubleheader later this school year.
There already are several nominations, but Kalian hopes to attract more — for this year or for the future.
“We want to honor people from the early years this first time,” said Kalian, a 1985 BGHS graduate. “We’ll have a mix, but that’s going to be our focus.”

Interestingly, Camas had its initial induction ceremony for its Hall of Fame this past weekend.
Six members of the 1937 football team as well as several members of the 1967 football team were introduced to the crowd at Friday’s game, then 350 people attended a gathering Saturday to induct several athletes/teams and a coach to its Hall of Fame.
