to chris: this bill does NOT say "physician assisted suicide will be forced on the terminally ill". once again "righty fundys" have failed to read!

Here's where my problem lies. First off if you plan and than kill another person its murder weather thay want to die or not. Suicide is when you kill yourself not when you have someone do it for you. Second if you want to hire someone else to kill you it shouldn't be a doctor. A doctor is supposed to work at keeping you alive. If we had another group of folks trained and expected to do this and they wanted to I would be all for it.

Phil: Any physician can pull him or herself out of the process without fear of consequences. From the initiative: "A professional organization or association, or health care provider, may not subject a person to censure, discipline, suspension, loss of license, loss of privileges, loss of membership, or other penalty for participating or refusing to participate..." And I think it's up to the doctor to say what he or she is 'supposed to' do for a patient, not (with all due respect) you.
