Classes and events

“Catch the Crush:” Wine Grapes for Fun and Profit, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 6-20. Learn from viticulturists with more than 20 years of experience about the ancient origin and history of the wine grape and how to propagate and grow them in Western Washington. The Cafe Femenino Foundation of Vancouver is hosting a coffee festival 5-8:30 p.m. Oct. 16 to benefit women who grow, harvest and produce coffee in Peru, Mexico and other coffee producing countries. “Strong Coffee,” premieres locally. The documentary recounts the 2006 harvest of Café Femenino, a brand of coffee grown, harvested and processed by women and sold across the world by Vancouver-based Organic Products Trading Company. There will be samples of Café Femenino coffee, cupping and roasting demonstrations, coffee martinis and a silent auction. “Wine Tasting Tour of Yamhill County,” 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 19. Stops include Elk Cove Winery and Cuneo Cellars, where tasters will enjoy a catered lunch. Also Domaine Serene and Tori Mor Winery, inlcuding a Japanese garden. Cost includes lunch and tasting fees.
