The prognosis on Martell Webster was about what was expected: He'll miss 8 to 10 weeks after having surgery to repair a stress fracture in his left foot.
The injury was discovered after Tuesday night's preseason game against Sacramento, when the team also learned that Webster had been experiencing discomfort in the foot during training camp, but tried to play through it.
Webster had a screw inserted into the broken fifth metatarsal bone on Thursday by Dr. Jay Crary at Southwest Washington Regional Surgery Center in Vancouver.
Losing Webster -- the incumbent starter at small forward -- could trigger significant adjustments to the Blazers' rotations. Before Wednesday's preseason game against Golden State, coach Nate McMillan said he would consider starting Travis Outlaw at that spot, and left open the possibility of pairing Brandon Roy and Rudy Fernandez in the starting unit.
