A budgeting error is forcing a program that supplies food to Spokane County's senior citizens to make drastic cutbacks.
The Spokane Regional Health District says it will only serve meals two days a week rather than five at about nine senior centers, churches and apartment buildings.
Lynn Quimby, the district's program manager of senior nutrition, tells The Spokesman-Review that the district discovered last month that federal aid for the food program would be about $30,000 less than planned. She says officials aren't sure what happened, but are working to find emergency funding.
