Digital Television Conversion

Tuesday, October 14 | 5:47 p.m.

MARY ANN ALBRIGHT

Television goes digital at midnight February 17, 2009, and households with analog sets and no cable or satellite service will need a converter box.

The federal government has a coupon program to help people purchase these boxes.

Each household can get two coupons, each worth $40. A converter box costs $40 to $70, so a coupon covers most if not all of the expense. Anyone can apply for a coupon. They are available through March 31, 2009, or while supplies last.
