"This American Life" breaks down the economic crisis — again

Thursday, October 16 | 4:44 p.m.

MATT WASTRADOWSKI

"This American Life" is back with another radio program designed to help listeners understand the economic crisis.

"This American Life" offered a similar program in May, entitled "The Giant Pool of Money." That program looked at the housing market and the impacts of its collapse.

But since then, the economic crisis has only gotten worse.

The new episode focuses on the credit crisis. It also explains why you and I should care about stuff like default credit swaps or the Commercial Paper Market.

The program also tries to help listeners make sense of the bailout — why it was necessary, how it could have been improved and its possible effects.

It's a really enlightening program; if you're trying to understand the faltering economy, "This American Life" has you covered.
