Web site helps track airfares

Friday, October 17 | 3:39 p.m.

MARY ANN ALBRIGHT

In addition to Farecast, which my colleague previously blogged about, I've discovered another way to do comparison shopping for plane tickets.

Airfare Watchdog lets you pick your departing and arrival airports, then sends you electronic ticket price updates as frequently as you like (once a week, twice weekly or even daily). It lets you know what the best deal at the moment is.

I'm tracking flights from Portland to New York. My first update listed a round-trip price of $304. Just a few days later, the price had dropped to $295.
