1. Art exhibit makes use of waste

The saying, “One person’s trash is another person’s treasure,” was taken literally for the Business-2-Waste-2-Art exhibit at the White Sturgeon Art Gallery.

Waste was donated by local businesses for the exhibit. Artists then used the waste to create the pieces on display.

Black-and-white photographs by Larry Lafady are also on display.

A reception celebrating the exhibits is from 2-5 p.m. today.

When: The exhibit opens today and continues through Dec. 27. The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.

2. Symphony offers a mix of old and new

The Southwest Washington Wind Symphony’s latest concert includes classics from the early 20th century and blues music.

Pianist Cinda Goold Redman will perform on George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.”

3. Toes tapping in Longview

“The Souls of Our Feet: A Celebration of American Tap Dance” blends tap dance performances with a multimedia performance.

The event pays homage to tap dance legends such as Bill “Bojangles” Robinson, the Nicholas Brothers and Fred Astaire.

Tap dancers, including Arthur Clark Duncan, will perform classic routines.

4. Rocking out at the Rose Garden

Heavy metal rock band Metallica stops by the Rose City for a concert.

The group, which got its start in the 1980s in the Bay Area, released its latest album, “Death Magnetic,” in September. The group is best known for hard rock hit albums such as “Metallica,” “Master of Puppets” and “… And Justice For All.”

When: 7 tonight.

5. “RocknRolla” hits movie theaters

“RocknRolla” follows a mobster who oversees a crooked land deal. When millions of dollars are up for grabs, London’s criminal underground gets to work.

A cast of characters (including Gerard Butler, Tom Wilkinson and Jeremy Piven) collude and conspire to get their share of the money.

“RocknRolla” is the latest film from director Guy Ritchie, who made a name for himself with action films such as “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” and “Snatch.”

Will “RocknRolla” be a fast-paced return to form? The film is rated R.

Exhibit reflects on nature, traditions

Works by nine artists of Asian heritage will be on display at Clark College’s Archer Gallery. The exhibit, which runs Nov. 4-Dec. 5, features a variety of media.

It also reflects on nature and the imagery of Asian traditions.

A reception opens the exhibit from 4-6 p.m. Nov. 5.

Capitol Steps bring humorous edge to election night
