Tuesday, November 4 | 2:29 p.m.

COURTNEY SHERWOOD

Vancouver-based Nautilus Inc. lost $34.1 million in the three months ending Sept. 30, the fitness company announced today. This marks the fifth consecutive quarter of losses for the troubled business, which employs about 450 people at its headquarters off Southeast 164th Avenue.

The third quarter loss includes a non-cash charge of $26.8 million, plus $8.2 million in restructuring and other costs.

Excluding restructuring and other charges, the company's loss was $5.5 million. Direct sales, where executives have pinned their hopes for future growth, were down 34.2 percent from third quarter 2007.
