Two hurt in BG accident

Tuesday, November 4 | 7:57 p.m.

BY JOHN BRANTON, COLUMBIAN STAFF WRITER

Two people were injured tonight in a three-vehicle crash on Northeast 219th Street at 72nd Avenue, west of Battle Ground.

About 5:20 p.m., Matthew Preller, 26, of Vancouver was driving a 2000 Kia sedan east, according to a bulletin from the Washington State Patrol.

The Kia crashed into the rear of an eastbound 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe that had slowed for traffic. The Kia then crossed the centerline and hit a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu head on.

None of the drivers was reported injured.

A passenger in the Kia, Michelle Stokes, 36, of Yacolt suffered pelvic pain and was taken by ambulance to Southwest Washington Medical Center, the bulletin said. Her condition was not available.

Megan Johnson, 24, of Battle Ground, a passenger in the Malibu, suffered stomach pain. Her condition also wasn’t available at the medical center.

The bulletin said the accident was caused by inattention and Preller was ticketed for allegedly following too close.

The accident blocked traffic in both directions on 219th for an hour.
