1. Robb sings the blues in Ridgefield

Terry Robb, a fixture on the Northwest blues scene, takes the stage for a concert in Ridgefield.

It is the second concert Robb has performed with a band at the Old Liberty Theater. Previously, Robb had performed solo shows at the theater.

2. Guests join symphony

Guest conductor Christopher Zimmerman leads the Vancouver Symphony through two concerts featuring a variety of music this weekend.

The symphony will perform three selections from “On the Town” by Leonard Bernstein and “Symphony No. 9” by Antonín Dvorák. Mezzo soprano Janine Hawley will join the symphony for Gustav Mahler’s “Kindertotenlieder.”

When: 3 p.m. today and 7 p.m. Sunday.

3. Food and gifts galore

The Holiday Food & Gift Festival is giving shoppers the chance to get a head start on the shopping season.

Handmade arts and crafts, holiday gifts, jewelry, photography and gourmet foods will be for sale at the festival.

Samples of tea, pasta, chocolate, soups, meats and coffee will be offered and available for purchase.

Santa Claus will make an appearance, as well.

4. Fair offers do-it-yourself tips

The Do It Yourself Fair offers workshops on a variety of topics, including how to build a green home, floor renovation, bike maintenance, basic car repair and food preservation. Fifteen informational booths will also be available.

5. Latest ‘Bond’ flick takes new direction

James Bond is back on the big screen. “Quantum of Solace” picks up where the popular 2006 “Bond” installment, “Casino Royale,” left off. Following the betrayal and death of Vesper Lynd, Bond (Daniel Craig) makes his next mission personal by going after the organization that coerced Lynd.

“Solace” eschews several “Bond” conventions, such as the popular “Bond, James Bond” line. Will the changes pay off in “Quantum of Solace?” Find out this weekend. The film is rated PG-13.

Underwood continues to “Ride”


Carrie Underwood, who became the first country singer to win “American Idol” in 2005, stops by Portland for a concert. Shortly after winning the competition, Underwood released her debut album, “Some Hearts,” which featured the hit single, “Jesus, Take the Wheel.” She is currently touring in support of her sophomore album, “Carnival Ride.”

Stitching together fun


Several sewing, quilting, needle art and craft companies will offer exhibits of work at the Quilt, Craft and Sewing Festival. Visitors can also take part in make-and-take workshops and free educational seminars.

Exhibit hopes to inspire “Change”


The Vancouver National Historic Reserve Visitor Center is hoping that visitors choose to “Arrange for Change.” That’s the name of a new exhibit at the visitor center. The exhibit explores climate change, its implications and what people can do to combat it.
When: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. The exhibit is on display through Dec. 31.
