Comcast promises to double download speeds

Monday, November 17 | 5:21 p.m.

Clark County’s cable company will double the download speed on its Internet service in December, Comcast announced on Monday.

Through a technology dubbed DOCSIS 3.0, Comcast’s basic Internet subscribers, who pay $42.95 per month for downloads at six megabits per second, will pay the same rate to receive 12 Mbps.

Higher-speed subscribers will also see download and upload speeds double without a rate change, and Comcast is adding additional tiers of Internet service that max out at 50 Mbps at $139.95 per month.
