Mental hearing for Skagit shooting spree suspect

Monday, December 8 | 10:45 a.m.

A mental competency hearing is scheduled in Mount Vernon for the man accused of killing six people in the September shooting rampage in Skagit County.

At Monday's hearing the prosecutor is expected to ask that 28-year-old Isaac Zamora of Alger be forced to take anti-psychotic medication at Western State Hospital so he can recover enough to stand trial.

Earlier court documents say Zamora doesn't understand the charges against him, can't assist in his own defense and isn't cooperating.

He faces six counts of aggravated murder for the killings that included a sheriff's deputy.
