The Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency reports that county public works crews are continuing a marathon effort to deal with snow and icy roads in higher elevations in the north, eastern and southeastern portions of the county.
Crews in the urban area are also preparing for snow and possibly freezing rain.
Clark County Public Works has 60 workers and about 40 plow-equipped trucks working in two shifts covering the hours from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. throughout the duration of the snow event.
The hardest hit areas remain locations north of 199th Street and east of NE 182nd Avenue. This would include La Center, Amboy, Hockinson and higher elevations north of Battle Ground, Battle Ground Lake, and highlands above Camas and Washougal.
Despite temperatures at or above freezing, packed snow and ice remain a significant problem in some rural areas, and will likely get worse over the weekend. Public Works crews continue to plow, sand and apply deicer to keep main routes passable.
Motorists traveling in these higher elevations are advised to use chains or traction tires.
