Driver arrested in fatal crash on Washington coast

A passenger is dead following a one-car crash on the Washington coast early Sunday, two others were injured and the driver has been arrested.

Forty-three-year-old Tommy G. Underwood of Taholah died when a 1993 Subaru Legacy went off State Route 109, plunged down an embankment and overturned. The crash occurred shortly after 1 a.m. about 15 miles north of Ocean Shores.

Two other passengers, 28-year-old Paula S. Charles of Forks and 33-year-old Leon T. Butler of Hoquiam, have been flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

State troopers say the driver, 38-year-old Joseph Hudson of Forks, was arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide. According to a State Patrol report, investigators believe alcohol was involved.
