Kirkland may annex 33,000 residents

Thursday, April 9 | 10:45 a.m.

The Kirkland City Council voted to start the process of annexing an area north of the city with 33,000 residents.

The residents of the Finn Hill, Juanita and Kingsgate areas would vote on joining Kirkland, which currently has 48,000 residents.

The Seattle Times reports the annexation area includes a casino that would be allowed to remain open under legislation pending in the state House.
