Snohomish County opens new park on Earth Day

Wednesday, April 22 | 11:45 a.m.

Snohomish County officials are celebrating Earth Day by opening a new 800-acre park.

The Paradise Valley Conservation Area is just north of the King County line near Maltby, and includes most of the headwaters of Bear Creek, a tributary of the Sammamish River and an important salmon stream. The park has 13 miles of trails. Officials tell The Herald of Everett that it has been designed to accommodate hikers, cyclists and horseback riders, but also the area's wildlife.

The county paid nearly $5 million to buy the land, with help from a variety of grants.
