Washington DOL keeping some rural offices open

Tuesday, May 12 | 4:15 p.m.

The Department of Licensing has suspended plans to close driver licensing offices in Walla Walla, Poulsbo, Forks, Friday Harbor and Goldendale.

The agency says residents would have to drive too far to other offices.

The DOL says it's going ahead with plans to close 10 offices this year. Two have already been closed in Seattle and one in Auburn. The seven others are in east Seattle, west Tacoma, Bellevue, Olympia, Bothell, Yakima and Vancouver.

The agency says it's still looking to relocate or change service hours for offices in Chelan, Coulee Dam, Davenport, Ephrata, Morton, Newport, Oroville, Port Townsend, Republic and South Bend.
