Camas company wins $9.9 million contract for I-5 work

Thursday, May 21 | 2:49 p.m.

Granite Northwest Inc., Camas, has been chosen as contractor for a stimulus-funded project to repair and replace damaged concrete panels and repave sections of Interstate 5 between Kelso and Castle Rock.

Granite Northwest was awarded a $9.9 million contract for the project, which is expected to create 100 jobs, reported the Daily Journal of Commerce in Portland this week.

The three-month project combined an existing pavement project with a second project funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Crews will work to replace and retrofit 180 damaged concrete panels in both directions of I-5, as well as repave the northbound lanes of the freeway between Kelso and Castle Rock.

Construction is expected to begin in July and end in October.
