Two Vancouver men die in Warm Springs area crash

Two Vancouver men died Monday when their vehicle crashed on a stretch of Highway 26 in central Oregon, officials reported Wednesday.

Kurtis Cayce and Benjamin Stein, both 23, were found dead at the scene of the crash at milepost 80 near Warm Springs, Ore., according to a Warm Springs Tribal Police press release.

Tribal police were dispatched to the crash at 9:23 a.m., and found both men inside a 1986 BMW sedan. The car was off the highway and concealed by brush and trees, the press release said. Police think the car left the eastbound lane for an unknown reason.

No one witnessed the accident, and it's believed the crash happened several hours before police were dispatched. The investigation is continuing.

Ben and kurtis will be thought about daily, Ben was my best friend since 6th grade, I can hardly imagine not talking to him or seeing him, my thoughts are with his mother and sister and father.. And with his amazing son Andrew.

Myself and many others already miss them both. Kurtis and Ben always kept everyone laughing and forgetting the rough times. I have known them both for over a decade and know they are loved by this entire town. We'll miss you guys. Ben's son will be proud of the man his father always was! My love goes out to both families and all the people that care for them like I do myself.

I stand behind what Rebecca stated and as far as illegal threat of assault, this is a situation the law isn't near cruel enough to punish this ugly human like it deserves. The good lord has a plan for everyone and Marlo will eventually pay for his post

wait, which mythological god are you talking about? i can't keep track of all the different cults and their gods. and as for trying to "beat down" someone, that sounds like a good way to get yourself killed, as is driving unsafely

Steve Taxel, How about you just keep your comments to yourself. When a 3 year old little boy is left fatherless freedom of speech goes out the window. This was a terrible accident and many people are affected by it. I'm sure if you were close to the victims as much as some of us are you would be deffensive of some of the comments being made. Everyone who has left a comment on her has those these two men for quite some time. No one knows exactly what happened with the accident except for the two young men who lost their lives. How about everyone just cooling their jets.

We need to remember that two young men tragically lost their lives, shattering the hearts and minds of the families and many, many friends that they left behind and whose lives will never be the same.

Andrew will need everyone who knew and loved his father to help keep Ben's memory alive for him, and to fill in the gaps, when he can't remember certain things about Daddy. Remember to tell him that Ben was a brave soldier, who fought for our Country's freedom, and to rid our World of Terrorism. Make sure that Andrew knows that Daddy had a LOT of friends who love and now miss him.

Kurtis' parents, brothers and friends need support in dealing with the loss of a guy that could just look at you and make you laugh. If Kurtis was your friend, you knew he was there for you for anything.

If you knew either of these guys, you loved them with your whole heart, and it was returned, tenfold. I knew them both, through my daughter, who was very close to both of them. Kurtis spent a number of evenings on my couch, when he was angry with someone or another. My heart is broken, knowing the void that this loss has left in the lives of their friends.

We need to turn a blind eye to those whose sole purpose here is to cause trouble.

We need to heal, and the only way to do that is together.

Until we meet again, R.I.P. Kurtis and Ben, and know that you are loved and will always be missed. And Kurtis, there'll always be a spot on my sofa, if you need to hang out...

S.Taxel The removal of the posting had nothing to do with censoring someone's right to free speech. It was done as a matter of basic respect and human decency. I don't know the young men involved, but I do know that right now there are a lot of people in a great deal of personal pain. The comment that was removed was based upon little or no actual information,and was made only to be hurtful.
I can understand why someone might want to call their city council members morons, or start arguments about the various religious beliefs. If that's your thing, go for it. However, I can't understand why one would consider a tragic event like this an appropriate target for flippant, mean spirited remarks.

Although I never had the chance to meet these two men, I feel Vancouver has lost some rather fantastic guys. I feel sadness for them and for their families and friends. I am thankful I didn't see the posting which had been removed. There is never a right time or place for poor behavior, especially in time of tragedy.

It seems this tragic accident happened before sunrise. If I am not mistaken, these roads have steep curves. If you aren't familiar with the road, it can be hazardous. Could exhaustion have played a role in the accident? I know the road to Warm Springs is long, very long, from Portland. We may never know. I am sure the men know they are very loved and they will always be with the family and friends in their hearts.

They will both be misses and loved forever. I know kurtis for some time and considered him to be in my tight circle of loved ones. I will forever remember him and the times we shared. May you rest in piece both ben and Kurtis i will forever love you.

Kurtis was my sisters boyfriend :( I remember him coming over to the house and spending time with her and he was like a big brother to me, hed tease me about how much hot sauce I used on my food and how long it took me to get ready and be very protective of me with the boys I was dating. I will do my best to take care of my sister and my heart goes out to Ben and Kurtis' families. May you both rest in peace you will be greatly missed!
