A Carson woman was arrested Thursday after she allegedly led troopers on a 90-mph chase on Interstate 84 and then attacked a trooper trying to detain her.

Jessica Ann Smiley, 27, was arrested and booked in the Multnomah County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, reckless driving, assault of a public safety officer and felony attempt to elude an officer.

The chase started shortly after 5 p.m., when a caller reported to dispatchers that a silver Kia Sedona was going faster than 100 mph west on I-84, according to an Oregon State Police press release. The witness then spotted the car collide with a concrete median and nearly flip. This happened at milepost 38 east of Portland.

A responding trooper then saw the car driving 90 mph about 16 miles closer to Portland. The officer activated the sirens but the car didn't stop, triggering a chase that ended in the Wood Village area at milepost 15, the press release said.

As she was being seated in the back of a patrol car, Smiley allegedly kicked another trooper in the face and then kicked the doors and windows, troopers said.

Upon being booked, Smiley also was given a speeding ticket.
