State softball Saturday update: 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, May 30 | 6:28 p.m.

BY PAUL VALENCIA

Union takes third; Prairie fourth at 3A state. ...

One of the toughest leagues in the state got two teams to the trophy game, and Union got the best of Prairie again, 2-0 in the third-place game. Union, Prairie, and Columbia River of the Class 3A Greater St. Helens League went a combined 10-5 at state.
UNION 2, PRAIRIE 0
Mariah Dawson struck out 16 batters in her three-hit shutout, and her two-run double in the first inning was plenty of run support.
Prairie's Jessi Duncan scattered seven hits and did not give up an earned run in the loss.
Union has three seniors on its roster, while Prairie has none. Both teams said they would like to face each other on this day next year, but in the championship game instead.
