Emily Holt helped power the Woodland softball team into the semifinals of the 2A state tournament in Selah with two wins on Friday.

Holt struck out 29 batters in 13 innings as the Beavers defeated Blaine 10-0 and Colville 3-0 in their two games at Carlon Park.

Woodland will face Ellensburg in a 10 a.m. semifinal. The other semifinal has Burlington-Edison against Tumwater. The semifinal winners will play for the championship at 2 p.m. The losers move into consolation play at noon with the third-place semifinal at 2:30 p.m.

In Woodland’s opener, Holt hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to get the Beavers going against Blaine. Woodland then scored eight more runs in the sixth and the game ended on the 10-run mercy rule.

Holt struck out 13 in the win, allowing just two Blaine hits.

The quarterfinal win over Colville was similar with Holt again hitting a two-run home run to start the scoring in the first inning.

Holt also held Colville to two hits while striking out 16.
