1A/2B/1B TRACK: La Center's Chamberlain wins high jump title

The La Center and Stevenson girls track teams had top-10 team finishes Saturday at the Class 1A track and field championships in Cheney.

La Center sophomore Katrina Chamberlain won the high jump, clearing a personal record 5 feet, 6 inches as the Wildcats finished sixth in the team standings.

Chamberlain added team points by placing fourth in the 100-meter hurdles and eighth in the triple jump.

Senior Amanda Stump did her part for Stevenson with second-place finishes in the 100 and 200 meters, and 300 intermediate hurdles as the Bulldogs scored 47 points to finish third as a team.

Stevenson won the 800 relay with Stump was as the anchor. Jen Rathgerber, Sammy Sullivan, Kelsey Penner and Stump posted a time of 1:46.1.

Rathgerber, Penner, Sullivan and Kali Stump were fourth in the 1,600 relay.

In other highlights in Cheney:

2B girls — Vancouver Christian senior Kari Hunt won the girls pole vault by clearing 8-9. Teammate Lauren Dameron was fifth in the 800. King’s Way junior Emily Scott was sixth in the 400.

2B boys — Vancouver Christian’s Max Lenoir placed fourth in the 110 hurdles with a 16.27. Teammate Jared O’Brien was fifth in the 3,200 to go with a seventh-place in the 1,600. Richard Shultz was eighth in the long jump.

1A boys — La Center’s Cleave Rengo placed third in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 175-7. And teammate Zach Olivera was seventh in the pole vault.

1B boys — Tanner Coval was seventh for King’s Way in the 3,200.

1B girls — Emily Scott placed sixth for King’s Way in the 400.
