A father ran over his 2-year-old son Monday morning in Yacolt by accident when the child wandered outside and into the path of his car, sheriff's deputies said Tuesday.

The boy was in good condition Tuesday morning at Portland's Legacy Emanuel Hospital, said Clark County sheriff's Sgt. Scott Schanaker.

No citations were issued against the father.

Schanaker declined to release the father and son's names.

Just before 10 a.m. Monday, the father was pulling out of the driveway of his home in the 200 block of Northeast Amro Avenue when he reportedly hit the child, Schanaker said.
He then carried the boy to the Yacolt fire station a couple blocks away, and paramedics rushed the child to Southwest Washington Medical Center with an apparent broken leg.

The child was later transported to Legacy Emanuel. Schanaker said deputies investigated and found no evidence of foul play. The father told deputies he thought the boy was in the house and never saw him in the driveway.
