Kyrell Hudson update

Kyrell Hudson, a senior from Evergreen, is back in Vancouver, practicing baseball with the Vancouver Cardinals a day after working out for the Chicago Cubs.
The Cubs organization invited Hudson to a camp in Arizona, and Hudson worked out there with three other high school athletes and dozens of college athletes on Wednesday. Major League Baseball's first-year player draft is next week, and Hudson expects to be selected.
"I'm just being patient, but I'm kind of excited at the same time," said Hudson, who has heard he could go as high as the third round.
At the same time, it should be pointed out that after the first round, the rounds really do not matter much in terms of how much money an athlete might earn in his first contract. Hudson has leverage because he has already signed a letter of intent to play football at Oregon State University.
Hudson said Thursday that he wants to play baseball. But if the money is not right, he will play football.
