A Vancouver methamphetamine dealer was sentenced Monday to five years and three months in federal prison.

Jose Orozco Martinez, 26, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Tacoma by Judge Benjamin H. Settle.

Martinez will likely be deported back to Mexico after he serves his term, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Seattle.

Martinez was arrested March 13, 2008, as he was leaving the La Center residence of Jose Freddy Barrera. Martinez had more than one pound of meth in his car, and he told officers that he picked up three pounds of meth daily from Barrera.

Martinez pleaded guilty Oct. 8 to possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Barrera, who was found with more than 16 pounds of meth in his home, was sentenced April 7 to 13 years in prison. He had previously been deported following drug and weapons convictions, but returned to Clark County.
