Naked man hit by car, flees

A naked man reportedly high on hallucinogenic mushrooms was injured after he wandered into traffic on Northwest 21st Avenue and was hit by a car Tuesday night, sheriff’s deputies said.
To complicate things, authorities had to chase him down to take him to the hospital.
Just after 10 p.m., Sean Harrie, a 19-year-old Ridgefield man, was hit by a car in the 15300 block of 21st Avenue, in the North Salmon Creek neighborhood. A 911 caller had told authorities a naked man landed on the windshield, but jumped up and took off running, said Clark County sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Schanaker.
Moments later, deputies responded and found the man running down the street with the driver of the car following him. Deputies confronted Harrie and used a taser to restrain him enough for transport to Southwest Washington Medical Center, Schanaker said.
Deputies described Harrie as extremely high on mushrooms.
His condition this morning wasn’t immediately available.

Another great story by LAURA MCVICKER, they need to start finding this lady something productive to do, something a little less skiled than writing. Shes really an insult to the people who pay to read this garbage. Ha this is hilarious. SaraB he would never sue. I cant imagine him wanting to hear this story over and over again in the court system. And for legal charges i wouldnt expect much. Sure, they could've physically attempted to restrain him, but at what risk to the safety of the officers involved? Assuming this guy was bleeding, a scuffle would be a perfect chance for exposure to pathogens, where as tasing the guy and then restraining him would be safer. leslie. learn to laugh. His mom prob is not findin the humor in this now but i bet later down the road they will both get a laugh out of this. Kid ate some mushrooms, maybe experimented or has done them before. RE think aboutit: I like what you stated but I have been in bar fights many times as a young man and I have had to sweat to get them away. We didn't have any tasers to immobilze them but I had to deal with 5 guys at once. It was not an issue about their sweat. I cared for safety of them and mine, but they had beer bottles as weapons and I think our county Deputies should not have to resort to being hostle to the public, especially when naked. P.S. I was there!I agree that the reporter did not get all the facts correct.
The authorities did not chase the guy down. I called 911 and then the driver, a neighbor, and I chased him, found him, and brought him back to the car. The driver was a friend of the man, both in their early twenties, and yes he was very upset that he hit him. However, the man was apparently not injured or bleeding and was walking around quietly. That is until the police got there.
The first officer on the scene would not listen to us explain the situation, he ordered the man on the ground. The man was oblivious of the officer even being there. The man tried to walk by the officer. The officer blocked his way and ordered him to the ground again. The man was babbling and swore a couple of times and tried to walk past the officer again. That is when the officer zapped him. Then all the other officers arrived rolled him from the grass onto the gravel and piled on top of him. That's when he got scratched up and started bleeding. I had to remind them that he had been hit by a car and may be injured. After a very long time they got him up onto the gurney and to the waiting ambulance.
I understand that the police were doing their job and I am grateful for their service. Of course, they have to use every precaution, they never know. It was very difficult to watch. It certainly was not funny. He could have been killed or harmed someone else. Tripping out on any kind of drug is asinine.

Mum Mylus, thanks for that update.Ghostrider, just because you fought 5 guys at a time in your youth, does not mean the police need to get into a physical altercation. The tazer protects not only the police but the person being tazed. Although the tazer "hurts" momentarily, it does not hurt you. It normally ends the situation so blows (or gunshots) don't have to be fired.

Psilocybin mushrooms are extremely harmful and cause negative effects physically, as well as emotionally. This would explain the behavior executed by this young gentleman. Under stressful conditions, it is not uncommon for the psilocybe user to become combative. If they experience something like a "bad trip" it can cause severe emotional and psychological distress according to the Wikipedia site on psilocybin mushrooms.Mum Mylus - thanks for the info, and you are right. When you witness something like this, it is no laughing matter. Hopefully this young man will get some serious help so he doesn't embarrass himself or humiliate his family again OR the worse case scenario, doesn't die from this very dangerous endeavor risking himself or others in the process.

Someone out there is either supplying the shrooms or he harvested them himself and utilized them to dangerous levels, endangering himself and endangering the life of the driver. This is a felony offense which is punishable at the same level as LSD. Indecent Exposure at this extreme is a felony offense. He fled the scene of an accident. This is a felony offense. This isn't funny at all. The gal that has provided all the facts above is my daughter and the "man" that hit the naked man is her boyfriend. They are just in highschool and still children. To witness your friend behaving that way and ultimately getting hit and tazed is a pretty traumatic thing to witness. We can all laugh over a young man running around town naked on drugs but shouldn't we be more concerned about what is going on in our community? Obviously this boy is struggling with something to do so many drugs. And shouldn't we be concerned about where these children our getting the drugs and how a Senior and Junior in Highschool had to not only try and take the responsability by helping the boy on drugs but have to deal with witnessing this? If this was your child would you be posting comments on line laughing about it?
