Point Roberts trash collector halting pickups

Tuesday, June 23 | 12:00 p.m.

Residents will have to start taking their own trash to a transfer station in Point Roberts, a tiny outpost of the USA across Boundary Bay from Blaine.

The company that had been providing garbage service, Point Recycling and Refuse, said curb service is not financially viable.

The Bellingham Herald reports Point Roberts has only a few hundred customers and multiple border crossings are required because Canada won't allow garbage to be imported.
