Five members of an extended family have been sentenced to prison for growing marijuana at suburban Seattle houses.
According to U.S. District Court filings, homes owned by the Duong family had been extensively modified for pot growing, and in some cases no one lived in them. Investigators wrote that 2,560 marijuana plants were seized in raids on Sept. 10, along with two guns, 539 clones of pot plants and more than $11,000 in cash.
Sixty-year-old Ton Chi Duong of Kent, described as the patriarch, was sentenced to five years. His brother, 54-year-old Bao V. Duong of Federal Way, got 3 1/2 years. Thirty-one-year-old Dung Duong of Kent, Ton Chi's son; 48-year-old Frank Vuu of Kent, Ton Chi's son-in-law; and 41-year-old Hoi Van Ngo of Des Moines each got 1 1/2 years.
