THE COLUMBIAN
Doris Hering Cipra
West Hazel Dell: Doris Hering Cipra, who will celebrate her 100th birthday July 7, remembers when electricity first came to Little Falls, Minn. Her entire family sat in the living room one evening and watched as a single bare light bulb hanging from a cord in the ceiling first came on and lit up the entire room.
In Little Falls, Doris’ mother worked for Mrs. Lindbergh — mother of the famous aviator Charles Lindbergh. Doris went on Sunday rides in Mrs. Lindbergh’s Saxon Six convertible driven by the teenager Charles.
Doris was born in Wisconsin and moved to Minnesota as an infant. She moved to Clark County in 1929 and was hired to work in the converting plant at Crown Zellerbach in Camas.
Doris was married to Lawrence Hering for 55 years before he died in 1987. She was later married to Roland Cipra for four years before he died. She never had any children.
She will celebrate at home with friends.
