Fun will roll back into local parks this summer

Tuesday, June 30 | 11:32 p.m.

THE COLUMBIAN

Even as the recession rages, here’s some fun that’s been added back into Vancouver’s summer.

The FunWagon, a mobile Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation program that got cut from the budget in 2003, is back. This summer it will travel to ten city and county parks on weekdays to provide free staff-led arts, crafts and games.

The program is entirely paid for through donations. No city or county funds are being used. If you would like to help out, contact the Parks Foundation at www.parkfoundation.us or 360-693-7050.

Here’s the schedule, which runs Monday through Aug. 28.

Eisenhower Park, 9201 N.W. Ninth Ave.: 10 a.m. to noon Mondays.

Shumway Park, 3014 F St.: 1-3 p.m. Mondays.
