Coast Guard responds to spill in Neah Bay

Friday, July 3 | 3:15 a.m.

The U.S. Coast Guard is trying to contain a spill that followed the dockside sinking of a boat at Mackinaw Marina in Neah Bay.

Petty Officer Colin White said the owner of the fishing vessel Neptune reported the sinking Wednesday at about 9:25 p.m. A crew from Coast Guard Station Neah Bay found no pollution at the time, but a sheen was discovered Thursday morning.

White says the substance creating the sheen has not been determined, but it is being contained with booms.
