Drowning victim found at Paradise Point identified

The name of a drowning victim whose body was recovered Thursday night from Paradise Point State Park was released Friday by the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Cliff O. Chappell II, 28, of Vancouver had been last seen swimming in the East Fork of the Lewis River.

Rescuers were called to the park beach under Interstate 5 near La Center about 8:20 p.m. Thursday.

A diver found the body approximately two hours later.
