Pedestrian hit in Spokane dies of her injuries

Saturday, July 4 | 9:45 p.m.

A pedestrian struck by a pickup truck in a downtown Spokane intersection has died of her injury.

Sacred Heart Medical Center said Mary Vedder remains on life support for her organs to be donated.

Police say 45-year-old woman died Friday at a hospital.

She suffered a head injury Thursday when she was hit in a crosswalk by the truck making a left turn at First and Post.

Police say it does not appear that drugs, alcohol or recklessness were factors, and the driver has not been cited.
