Celebrate the return of the fall migration at the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge with activities at the refuge and downtown Ridgefield.
There will be a Birders’ Marketplace with exhibits, gifts and art, plus family activities tent in downtown Ridgefield. There will be an Audubon Live Bird Show at 1 p.m. Oct. 1 at the View Ridge Middle School. Bluegrass jamming will take place at the Old Liberty Theater from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 1, followed by a concert at 7 p.m. The documentary “Promised Land” will be screened at the theater at 1 p.m. Oct. 2.
At the refuge, there will be guided walking tours, weaving and traditional tool demonstrations, community booths, birding tips history lectures and a traditional salmon bake at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 2. The River ‘S’ Auto Tour Route will be open from dawn until dusk, along with the Kiwa Trail.
Workshops and tours require advanced reservations, with some carrying fees.
