Clark County Veterans Court Board to host Musical Stars for Vets from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, May 21, Living Hope Campus, 2711 NE. Andresen Rd.
Tickets: $20 in advance, $30 at the door and includes snacks, beverages and a dessert bar. Tickets are available at Beacock Music, any Columbia Credit Union branch as well as online at www.ClarkCountyVetsCourtBoard.org. All proceeds benefit the Clark County Veterans Court.
Headliners include the Maestro Hector Garcia a world renowned classical guitarist who was held prisoner for 2 years by Castro after the Bay of Pigs. He was released in 1963 after the Kennedy Administration paid a $50,000 ransom. Upon his release he appeared on the Ed Sullivan
Show where he played the songs he composed in prison and played so often to inspire his fellow captives.
The internationally acclaimed classical guitarist Ernesto Quilban, a former pupil of Hector, will also be appearing. A star in his own right, Ernesto won his country’s talent contest at age 17. Attorney Art Miller will open on the piano at 5:30 pm. Also appearing will be the national fiddler champion Cynthia Hamm, Col. Dan Kern, Tamara Knight, Don Mitchell, Judy Koch Smith and don’t forget Battle Ground’s own country sensation Ricky Lee Jackson.
