What changes have been made to the site?
The Columbian has updated its Web site in an effort to make the site more stable and make sure that users have a seamless experience while viewing and interacting with content on the site.
The new site also allows a user to personalize their experience with commenting, ratings of stories, a personal wall, and a blog. Users can connect with others on the site and get reminders about events.
Search has also been improved to provide better results. Registered users can also create automated alerts to their e-mail accounts or mobile phones.
The design and navigation of the site was also refined based on user input and the mobile site has been optimized for those devices.
Photos and HD quality video display in a more rich fashion.
Tighter integration with The Columbian's presence on Twitter and Facebook has also been made to the site and social media will continue to be a focus of Columbian.com as it further connects with the community in 2010.
Is registration required? How do I register?
Registration is not required to view stories and read other content on the site, but there are many benefits to doing so.
Registration is required to create your profile page and personal blog, to comment on stories, set up alerts, or to submit items to the Online Events Calendar.
If you want to register, click on the link at the top left portion of the home page or click here. Upon submitting your registration, you will receive an email confirming your account. To activate your account, follow the link in that email.

Columbian.com remains to be the top news site for Vancouver and Clark County. Favorite sections on the site, from obituaries, to local news, sports, business, life, opinion, multimedia and The Columbian Newsmap also remain on the site.
