$100,000 gift draws Innovative Services NW closer to new facility
Sunday, February 25, 2007 by KELLY ADAMS, Columbian staff writerInnovative Services NW is $100,000 closer to a new facility.
The 44-year-old nonprofit organization that mainly serves adults and children with disabilities is in the midst of a $6.7 million capital campaign. The money will pay for a new facility near Westfield Vancouver Mall. The building will house the organization's five programs and provide room for growth.
The gift comes from the New York-based Anderson Family Charitable Fund. It brings the total raised to $3.6 million.
Representatives from the fund visited the agency twice before making the donation.
"We are well over halfway there," said campaign co-chairman Steve Hix in an announcement released Friday. "We are deeply appreciative that the Anderson Family Charitable
Fund has seen our organization and this campaign as worthy of investment."
Hix also recognized the Vancouver-based Community Foundation for helping make the grant happen.
A larger space is vital for the agency's future, said Innovative Services NW CEO Bob Gaylor.
"The additional space is necessary to accommodate recent and future growth," he said. "The organization has grown by 20 percent or more for each of the past six years. There is just no way we can meet the community need without a larger facility."
The new structure will be three stories tall and 36,000 square feet. Groundbreaking is planned for May, with opening scheduled in early 2008.
