Vancouver police are still trying to piece together events that led to the shooting death of a 45-year-old man Tuesday evening.

Police identified the victim Wednesday as Clement B. Adams of Vancouver. The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Wednesday that Adams died of a gunshot wound to the head. His death is classified as a homicide.

Detectives continue to investigate the shooting and car crash that occurred at about 5:45 p.m. in Vancouver’s Rose Village neighborhood. Police questioned two persons of interest following the shooting, but as of Wednesday had not made any arrests in the case.

Detectives continued to follow leads and interview witnesses Wednesday to determine the sequence of events that took place in the neighborhood at East 33rd and S streets, Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said.

Witnesses told The Columbian Tuesday night that Adams was shot in the head as he attempted to drive out of the parking lot of the S & S Mart at the corner of East 33rd and S streets.

Kapp said Wednesday morning that some witnesses reported hearing gunshots before the vehicle crashed into the front yard of a nearby home and others said they heard shots after the crash.

Police do not believe the shooting was random.
