Misty River continues its comeback from a hiatus

Acoustic quartet Misty River will perform for the first time in Ridgefield since returning from a yearlong hiatus in September. The band plays a mix of folk, bluegrass and country. Fans should expect to hear some new songs, as well as holiday favorites.

The band is easing back into performing after making a return as part of the Camas Performing Arts Series about three months ago.

When: 7:30 tonight.

The Misty River concert is one of several happenings taking place throughout Clark County this weekend. Other options include a variety of holiday events, a puppet production and a new film in theaters.

1. Slocum House delivers ‘Christmas Miracle’

The latest production from the Slocum House Theatre Company, “Dad’s Christmas Miracle,” follows Conner Murphy, who wants a go-cart for Christmas. It’s up to his father to come up with the go-cart by Christmas morning.

When: Through Dec. 20, with performances at 8 tonight, Thursday, Friday and Dec. 19; and 2 p.m. Sunday and Dec. 20.

2. Singing Christmas Tree celebrates holiday season

The Vancouver Singing Christmas Tree presents three performances this weekend. The 80-voice choir will celebrate the season with a mix of music and drama.

When: 3 and 7:30 p.m. today, and 4 p.m. Sunday.

Where: Vancouver First Church of God, 3300 N.E. 78th St., Vancouver.

Admission: Free. Canned food donations will be accepted.

3. Fort celebrates the holidays

Fort Vancouver shows visitors what the holidays were like during the fort’s heyday in the 1800s.

At the Christmas at Fort Vancouver event, visitors will be able to view and take part in traditional activities undertaken by fort residents during the holiday season.

The event at Fort Vancouver is one of several holiday happenings taking place at the Fort Vancouver National Site today. Information about events at the Marshall House, Pearson Air Museum and Fort Vancouver Visitor Center is at fortvan.org.

When: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.

Where: 1001 E. Fifth St., Vancouver.

Admission: Free with fort admission.

Fort admission is $3; $5 per family; and free for children 15 and younger.

4. Eastwood’s ‘Invictus’ in theaters

The latest film directed by Clint Eastwood arrives in theaters this weekend.

“Invictus” follows Nelson Mandela (Morgan Freeman) after his release from prison. Mandela is elected as president of South Africa, and he tries to use the 1995 Rugby World Cup to keep South Africa together after the fall of the apartheid. The South African team is led by captain Francois Pienaar (Matt Damon). “Invictus” is rated PG-13.
