All year, the Class 3A Greater St. Helens League was touted as being one of the best in the state in girls soccer.

Now the league has votes to go along with that notion.

The top three teams in the league landed a total of 11 players on the all-state team.

Brinca Sych, a midfielder from Union, and Kailee Esser, a defender from Camas, each were named to the first team for the Class 3A squad.

Meanwhile, state champion Columbia River had three girls honored — Hannah Kimsey, second team, midfielder; Brittany Landon, second team, defender, and Teagan Ryan, honorable mention, goalkeeper — and Colleen McKinney was named state 3A coach of the year.

Ellie Boon of Washougal was the only other first-team selection. The forward was named on the top 2A squad.

Hockinson had four girls make the second team or honorable mention.

In all, there were 19 girls from The Columbian’s readership area to make a state soccer squad. For the full list, see the high school scoreboard on this page.

Clark County also had seven volleyball players on the all-state teams.

Prairie’s Haley Doefler (hitter) and Camryn Irwin (setter) both made second team for Class 3A. Prairie had the best finish among Clark County teams, taking third place at the state tournament.

Sophie Kuehl of King’s Way Christian made school history. She made the second team for Class 1B, becoming the first athlete from her program to be named to the all-state team.

Rene Ferran of The Tri-City Herald creates the ballots from all-league teams and newspaper all-region squads. The ballots are then sent to members of the media. This year, for the first time, coaches who reached the state tournament were also invited to vote.
