The arraignment hearing of two-time National League Cy Young award winner and University of Washington alum Tim Lincecum was rescheduled for Jan. 19 in response to a request by the pitcher’s attorney.

The San Francisco Giants star was ordered to appear in court by Judge Darvin Zimmerman to finalize a plea agreement turning a pair misdemeanor charges into civil infraction for possession of a marijuana pipe.

The hearing was initially scheduled today at 8:30 a.m. But Lincecum’s attorney asked that the court to reschedule the pitcher’s arraignment. The hearing is now set for Jan. 19 at 8:30 a.m.

When he appears in court – and it’s entirely possible the date will be reset again – Lincecum, 25, will pay a $250 fine for possession of drug paraphernalia that was found after he was stopped Oct. 30 for speeding doing 74 mph in a 60 mph zone near Hazel Dell while northbound on Interstate 5.

A Washington State Patrol motorcycle trooper noticed a marijuana smell when Lincecum rolled down his window. Lincecum handed the trooper a pipe and a pouch with 3.3 grams of marijuana.

Lincecum was cited by the Washington State Patrol for possessing what amounts to slightly more than one-tenth of an ounce of marijuana and a pipe, both misdemeanors, during the traffic stop.

County prosecutors and Lincecum reached what has been described as a standard plea agreement in which the former Husky accepted one count of buying or selling a pot pipe, an infraction, in return for having the misdemeanor charges thrown out.

Clark County Deputy Prosecutor Grant Hansen responded in the affirmative when asked if rescheduling is common for arraignment hearings such as Lincecum’s. “Yes,” it is, Hansen said.
