What’s open and what’s closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day:

n GARBAGE: Those with Friday pickup by Waste Connections, which serves most of Clark County, will have their garbage and recyclables picked up Saturday. In Camas, normal Friday service will be picked up on Monday.

n MAIL: Post offices closed Friday; no home delivery except for Express Mail. The postal unit inside the Shell gas station at Fisher’s Landing, 16320 S.E. Cascade Park Drive, is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

n PUBLIC SCHOOLS: Closed all this week and next for winter break.

n COLLEGES: Classes resume at Clark College on Monday, Jan. 4, and at Washington State University Vancouver on Monday, Jan. 11.

n PUBLIC LIBRARIES: Fort Vancouver Regional Library branches and bookmobiles closed Thursday and Friday. Camas Public Library open Thursday, closed Friday.

n GOVERNMENT: Federal, state, county and city offices open Thursday, closed Friday.

n BUSES: C-Tran buses follow regular schedule Thursday and operate on Sunday/Holiday schedule Friday. TriMet buses and MAX trains follow regular schedule Thursday and operate on Sunday schedule Friday.

n PARKING: Meters in downtown Vancouver free Friday.

n BANKS: Closed Friday.

n FINANCIAL MARKETS: New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq and other markets close early, at 10 a.m. Thursday, and will be closed Friday.

n DRIVER LICENSING: Offices open Thursday, closed Friday.

n VEHICLE LICENSING: Offices open Thursday, closed Friday.

n EMISSIONS TESTING: Stations closed Thursday and Friday.

n ANIMAL SHELTER: Humane Society for Southwest Washington open noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, closed Friday.

n ZOO: Oregon Zoo open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, closed Friday.

n LIQUOR STORES: State-operated stores open until 6 p.m. Thursday, closed Friday.

n WESTFIELD VANCOUVER MALL: Mall opens and closes early Thursday; hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nordstrom is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday. Mall closed Friday, open for extended hours 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. Four anchor stores have slightly different hours Saturday: J.C. Penney, 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Macy’s, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Nordstrom, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sears, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

n THE COLUMBIAN: Circulation customer service lines, 360-694-2312, open 4:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and 4:30 a.m. to noon Friday. Offices open Thursday, closed Friday.
