City continues working to clear roads

Vancouver Public Works warns that even though snow and ice has largely melted off, water pooling in the streets may cause problems and drivers should exercise caution.

Road crews worked through the night preparing roads for morning commuters. Clark County snow plows took to the streets at 4 a.m. Many of the county’s primary routes have been plowed, according to a press release.

The city prioritized arterials that connect police, fire and and hospital services. According to a press release, those roadways are down to wet pavement except in a few pockets that do not receive much traffic.

Garbage and recycling collections are on their regular schedule, though pickup in areas with steep hills could be delayed.

In Vancouver city limits, public works reminds, property owners are responsible for keeping sidewalks and parking lots free from snow and ice.

Snow should not be piled in streets where it can impede travel and clog storm water drains, according to the release.
