EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — An investigator for the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s office has been fired after he was arrested for allegedly driving drunk to the scene of a crash that killed four people — a crash police say was caused by drunken driving.

County spokesman Christopher Schwarzen says 48-year-old Arleigh Marquis was fired Dec. 15 for misconduct and violating county rules.

Trooper Brandon Lee says State Patrol has recommended county prosecutors Marquis be charged with drunken driving.

The Everett Herald reports Marquis, who has worked for the county since May 2001, was summoned by troopers to scene of the Nov. 29 fatal crash when troopers detected alcohol in his breath. Marquis then blew into a portable breathalyzer and submitted another test at a nearby police station. He was cited for drunken driving and given a ride home.
